Under the Violent Crime and Control
Act of 1994, the U.S. Department of Justice COPS Office would
require the completion of the Status of COPS Grant Implementation
Facsimile from law enforcement agencies if they have yet to send in
their current Federal Financial Report (SF-425). This is to ensure
that these agencies are planning on implementing their COPS grant
program and/or project that they had previously been awarded. An
estimate of the total number of respondents and the amount of time
estimated for an average respondent to respond/reply is 200
respondents annually that will complete the form in .1 hours. An
estimate of the total public burden (in hours) associated with the
collection is 20 total hours annually.
As a new ICR, the COPS Grant
Status Implementation Facsimile has an increased burden of 20
annual burden hours. This collection has never existed before, but
is needed in order to receive the status of a grantee's award
funding on an annual basis if they have not yet reported any use of
the funds.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:

(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
