Abstract: The information is needed to detect violations of the Export Administration Regulations to determine if an investigation or prosecution is necessary and to reach settlement with violators. Voluntary self-disclosures allow BIS to conduct investigations of the disclosed incidents faster than would be the case if BIS had to detect the violations without such disclosure.

Short Statement: BIS is requesting an increase in respondents/responses and burden hours in order to support publication of a final rule implementing the first phase of the President's Export Control Reform (ECR) initiative. The rule is entitled "Revisions to the Export Administration Regulations: Initial Implementation of Export Control Reform" (RIN 0694-AF65).
