Abstract: The Unemployment Insurance Data Validation Program requires States to operate a system for ascertaining the validity (adherence to Federal reporting requirements) of specified unemployment insurance data they submit to the Employment and Training Administration on certain reports they are required to submit monthly or quarterly. Some of these data are used to assess performance, including for the Government Performance and Results Act, or determine States' grants for UI administration.

Short Statement: The burden increase is due to the correction of calculation errors (1,231 hours)from the previous submission and also an annualized start up burden (4,169 hours)was included to account for the data elements being added to the revised validation system (one time) for a total added burden of 5,400 hours. The data elements constitute the addition of 96 report cells to the ETA 227 report, all of which are to be validated.
