Email Invitation to State & Local WIC Administrators

Dear (WIC Staff Contact),

Congratulations on the selection of your WIC site, (WIC site name), for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) study called “Feeding My Baby – A National WIC Study.” This landmark study of WIC Infant and Toddler Feeding Practices-2 will document current infant and toddler feeding practices in 80 WIC sites across the country and will assess WIC’s influence on those feeding practices. Out of thousands of WIC sites nationwide, your site is one of only 80 selected to be part of this study!

Your site and the other local sites selected have a critical role in ensuring the success of this study.  The attached “Feeding My Baby” study brochure provides information that will be helpful to you and the staff in the site.  Please review it and share it with the appropriate individuals at your agency and in the site. (Study Liasion) (Phone: (XXX) XXX-XXXX; Email: [email protected]) will be working with your State WIC Agency and you to answer questions and guide the planning steps for implementing the study in your site.

We welcome you as part of the “Feeding My Baby” team, and we look forward to working with you as a partner in this important study. Conducting a national, longitudinal study of WIC infants and toddlers would not be possible without your support.

We request your assistance in these next steps:

  1. Inform others in your agency/site about the study and the selection of your WIC site as one of 80 study sites.

  2. Participate in calls with study team staff from the Altarum Institute and Westat to plan for implementation of the study in your site and to discuss your questions.

For more information about the study:

A recording of the webinar presentations and responses to questions from attendees is available at: http://altarum.adobeconnect.com/p7b23yubul7/

If you did not have the opportunity to participate in the webinar, please view the recording to learn more about the study.  Others in your agency or site may also be interested in viewing it. The Power Point slides used for the webinar can also be downloaded from this site.

Another source of information about the study is on the FNS website at http://www.fns.usda.gov/ora/feedingmybaby/   The information on this site will be updated periodically.

We will value your contribution to this important study.

Sincerely,

Gail Harrison, PhD
