If you do not sign your application or if you fail to submit the appropriate fee according to the instructions below, we will return your form. If your application is returned, no further action will be taken. You would then need to resubmit your application properly to renew processing.

If you are between the ages of 14 and 79 years, you must be fingerprinted as part of the USCIS biometrics services requirements. Biometrics services may also include the taking of your photograph and signature. After you have filed this application, USCIS will notify you in writing on Form I-797, Notice of Action, to call our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 to schedule your biometrics services appointment at a USCIS Application Support Center in your area. If you fail to appear for the biometrics services appointment, your application may be denied. |
Biometrics Services Appointment.
If you are between the ages of 14 and 79 years, you must be fingerprinted as part of the USCIS biometrics services requirements. Biometrics services may also include the taking of your photograph and signature. After you have filed this application, USCIS will notify you in writing on Form I-797, Notice of Action, to call our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 to schedule your biometrics services appointment at a USCIS Application Support Center in your area. For TDD (hearing impaired) call: 1-800-767-1833. If you fail to appear for the biometrics services appointment, your application may be denied.

Processing Information
Initial Processing Once an application has been accepted, it will be checked for completeness, including submission of the required initial evidence. If you do not completely fill out the form or file it without the required initial evidence, you will not establish a basis for eligibility, and we may deny your application.
Requests for More Information, Including Biometrics, or Interview
We may request more information or evidence. We may also request that you submit the originals of any copy. We will return these originals when they are no longer required.
At the time of any interview or other appearance at a USCIS office, USCIS may require that you provide biometric information (e.g., photograph, fingerprints) to verify your identity and update your background information.
Decision. The decision on Form I-687 involves a determination of whether you have established eligibility for the requested benefit. You will be notified of the decision in writing.
