The Foreign Travel Management (FTMS) is the Department of Energy's centralized, secured, unclassified system which tracks, records and secures approval of all foreign travel conducted by DOE Federal employees and contractors. FTMS supports DOE Order 551.1D, "Official Foreign Travel" dated April 2, 2012. The system contains information as to the traveler's name, dates of travel, destination, purpoe of travel and associated costs.
FTMS' contract costs are $450,000 a year to maintain, operate, and develop the system including other direct costs such as housing the services and license fees. Due to an increase of approved foreign travel, the number of responses and burden hours has increase accordingly.
