Attached for your records is the electronic submission of the amendment to the OMB clearance until 5/09 of the following collection:
3145-0100, “Survey of R&D Expenditures at Universities and Colleges”
This amendment concerns the Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC) subset of the survey frame. There are 37 FFRDCs that respond to this annual survey. The survey currently collects information from each FFRDC on its total annual R&D expenditures by source of funds and the percent of the total and federally funded expenditures going toward basic research. The change requested is to modify the item asking for the percentage of basic research to collect the percentages for basic research, applied research, and development. Definitions of these terms will be provided to the respondents in the survey instructions.
