The primary goal of this project is to provide a suite of scales that will be optimally useful to researchers and clinicians interested in studying factors that increase or reduce risk for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other health problems following deployment. The goal is to provide a set of scales that can be used for different military cohorts and types of military personnel (e.g., men and women, Regular Active Duty and National Guard/Reservist personnel). The DRRI will be a suite of scales used for assessing deployment-related risk and resilience factors associated with the post-deployment health and well-being of deployed veterans and represent separate modules that address different aspects of veterans' experiences before, during, and after deployment. DRRI scales and health measures will be administered to a national sample of OEF/OIF veterans. The specific aim for this study is to confirm the item and scale properties of full-length scales, to examine the discriminant validity and criterion-related validity of full-length scales, and to finalize abbreviated scales. A key strength of this project is that it's highly anticipated that this inventory will be quickly adopted for use in research and clinical work with returning OEF/OIF veterans, thereby maximizing the potential impact of the proposed project.
