The Foreign Trade Zones Act and
Regulations require an application from a firm or organization that
applies for foreign-trade zone )FTZ) status, for subzone status, or
for expansion of an existing zone. Applications must contain
detailed information on facilities, financing, operational plans,
proposed manufacturing operations, need, and economic impact. The
FTZ Board needs complete and accurate information because the Board
is required to make public interest determinations on FTZ
proposals.
There was an overall net
reduction in burden hours, which was achieved through the
streamlining and simplification of the application process for the
existing information collections, which resulted in shorter
application forms. Even though several new applications were added
in order to comply with changes in the Foreign-Trade Zone
regualtions, the addition of the new applications did not increase
the overall net burden associated with this information
collection.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
(i) Why the information is being collected;
(ii) Use of information;
(iii) Burden estimate;
(iv) Nature of response (voluntary, required for a
benefit, or mandatory);
(v) Nature and extent of confidentiality; and
(vi) Need to display currently valid OMB control
number;
If you are unable to certify compliance with any of
these provisions, identify the item by leaving the box unchecked
