National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Alaska Region created the Federal Fisheries Permit (FFP) and Federal Processor Permit for use in the Alaska EEZ groundfish fisheries. These permits provide NMFS with a way to monitor participation in groundfish fisheries. Per Final Rule 0648-BB42, the Federal Processor Permit must now be renewed annually, to coincide with the observer fee submittal. However, on line submission will make renewals much less burdensome. Permits can also be printed out from the AKRO Web site.
