BSEE uses the information to (1) determine the necessity for allowing a well to be temporarily abandoned and there is a definitive reason for not permanently plugging the well;(2) verify that respondents are diligently pursuing the final disposition of a well and have performed temporary plugging of the wellbore;(3) ensure platform or pipeline removal activities are properly performed; and (4) ensure that decommissioning a platform in place will not be a hazard to navigation and commercial fishing operations or interfere with other uses of the OCS.
