This program is intended to provide
operating assistance and capital funding to aid recipients and
subrecipients in restoring public transportation service and in
repairing and reconstructing public transportation assets to a
state of good repair as expeditiously as possible following an
emergency or major disaster.
In order to provide
necessary funding to the affected States and public transportation
agencies in a responsive and timely manner, FTA intends to publish
a Notice of Funding Availability in the Federal Register for these
funds. For publishing to take place by 2/5/13, FTA requests an
approval by 2/4/13. Without a waiver of OMB's normal approving
process, the delivery of emergency response recovery funds to the
affected agencies will be delayed and will further extend the
impact of this storm on the populations and public transportation
riders in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other northeastern
states.
