Abstract: NSF intends to use the evaluation to determine whether an appropriate demographic balance of awards (geographic, institutional, new and more experienced PIs) is being funded; content (math, science, technology, and engineering) is being targeted at multiple grade levels; and type (exploratory, full, high risk, transformative) of awards focus on different methods and address issues of national concern. The findings will also help inform day-to-day activities that address the Foundation's mission and goals relative to communication and interaction with the at-large stakeholder community, merit review of proposals, post award management, and preparation of solicitations. Findings from the evaluation will provide evidence on the efficacy and effectiveness of resources, tools and technologies produced by grantees, as well as quality of methods used for evaluation.
