In accordance with Executive Order 13506 establishing the White House Council on Women and Girls and the White House "Educate to Innovate" campaign, the Women@NASA Program was created to engage rising, underrepresented 5-8th grade girls and boys in one-on-one virtual mentoring opportunities, one hour per week for a five week period under parental/adult supervision. The curriculum focuses on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) disciplines. Information will be collected from members of the public (boys, girls, and their parent/legal guardian) to confirm eligibility. Parental consent is a pre-requisite for participation. Students will be selected using a stratified random sampling approach. Surveys will be used to gauge participant interest in STEM disciplines before and after the virtual mentoring experience and access the progrm's effectiveness
