The Northeast Fisheries Science
Center's Social Sciences branch seeks to collect data distribution
networks and business practices from fish processors that process
groundfish and sea scallop in the Northeast United States. It also
seeks to collect data on business disruptions due to Hurricane
Sandy from those firms. The data collected will improve research
and analysis about the economic impacts of potential fishery
management actions, consistent with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery
Conservation and Management Act, the Regulatory Flexibility Act,
and the National Environmental Policy Act.
