OMB No. 0607-0782: Approval Expires 01/31/2017 U.S. CENSUS BUREAU

1201 EAST TENTH STREET

JEFFERSONVILLE IN 47134-0001

FROM THE ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR ECONOMIC PROGRAMS

U.S. CENSUS BUREAU

In March, you should have received instructions for completing the 2013 Annual Capital Expenditures Survey (ACES) questionnaire online. We recognize the burden involved in completing this survey, but the Census Bureau depends on your input to ensure the accuracy of our data. The ACES data are a key source of information about our country’s economic performance. Business investment in structures and equipment is an important component of the official estimates of the Gross Domestic Product. The ACES data also help U.S. businesses identify market opportunities, develop new products, and conduct strategic planning.

In an effort to conduct the ACES in a cost-effective manner, we have developed an online reporting system for completing the survey that you will find easy to use. To complete the survey online or get assistance from the Business Help Site, go to econhelp.census.gov/aces. Use the following Username and Password:

This report is MANDATORY. Title 13, United States Code, Sections 131 and 182, authorizes the Census Bureau to conduct this survey. Section 224 and 225, require your response. Section 9 guarantees your response is confidential and will only be used for statistical purposes. You may use reasonable estimates if book figures are not readily available.

THANK YOU in advance for ensuring that the results of the 2013 Annual Capital Expenditures Survey are comprehensive, timely, and reliable.
