In 2010, the Navy's Chief of Information established a centralized online database for those individuals who are embarking U.S. Navy ships as part of the Navy's Leaders to Sea program. The execution of this important community outreach program was done via hardcopy forms and fax prior to this database. This automated system has significantly improved the efficiency and greatly reduced the overall amount of paperwork required and errors on processing request to execute the program.
