The Census Bureau plans to conduct additional survey work under the generic clearance for Data User Evaluation Surveys (OMB number 0607-0760).
The Statistical Compendia Branch, Administrative and Customer Services Division is planning a survey to assess the Statistical Abstract of the United States users’ interest, uses, and satisfaction with them. The feedback from this survey will help the Census Bureau decide next steps for this program.
Printed survey forms will be inserted within the Statistical Abstract of the United States to reach users in December 2010. The survey will also be available on our Statistical Compendia Branch website. We estimate 6,600 respondents will return the form based on prior surveys conducted.
The Human Factors and Usability Research Branch of the Statistical Research Division have reviewed and internally tested the questionnaire for ease of use and content appropriateness. We estimate respondent burden at 3.5 minutes per questionnaire for a total response burden of 385 hours.
We plan to maximize response rates by providing return postage on all surveys for ease of return.
Contractor costs for this survey are estimated at $ 0. Staff time is not included in these costs. Appropriations for this study are provided by the Statistical Compendia Branch
