Public Hearing Rescheduled
The Board has rescheduled its December 9, 2010 public
hearing on revisiting commodity, boxcar, and intermodal
regulatory exemptions to February 24, 2011. To read

Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement
To address new project information, the STB’s Office of
Environmental Analysis has decided to issue a
Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement for

abandonments. The Board also

Managing Service Demands
Chairman Daniel R. Elliott III wrote a letter to railroads
on August 9, 2010 requesting their plans for managing
service demands through the end of year. To see the

Report to Congress on URCS
Responding to a request from Congress, the STB
issued a report outlining options for updating the
Uniform Rail Costing System, which is used by the

The STB has issued a report on the liability and
indemnity provisions contained in agreements between
passenger and freight railroads. The report was

Welcome to E-Filing at STB
E-filings (electronic filings) can be made in lieu of
certain paper filings. E-filing is a file attachment
process. The document(s) you submit must include
the name and address of the person responsible for
the filing. E-filing may not be used to file:





initial filings in a proceeding;
filings requiring a fee (with the exception of
recordations, which may be e-filed);or
large evidentiary filings (over 10MB).

E-filing is not mandatory. You may continue to
submit paper filings by submitting an original and
ten copies to:

name and password, you must first request a login
