Annual Reports from foreign-trade
zones (FTZs) are required by the FTZ Act (19 U.S.C. 81a-81u). These
reports are the only complete source of compiled information on
trade activity in FTZs. The reports are used by Congress and the
Department to determine the economic effect of the FTZ program; by
the FTZ Board and othe other officials to determine whether zone
activity is consistent with trade policy and in the public
interest; and by the public to evaluate FTZs' effects on their
industry sectors.

Burden hours have been reduced
due to the use of updated language used to reflect the revised
Foreign-Trade Zones Board regulations which has resulted in the
removal of certain questions which are no longer required as part
of the reporting requirements. The adjustment reduction in
responses and burden hours is due to the shift to an electronic
submission system.
