This information collection will
characterize and help the Federal Government understand the scope
of swine enteric coronavirus diseases (SECD) and inform future
control options, and to decrease shedding and spread of PEDV and
PDCoV or other novel enteric coronaviruses from affected
herds.
It is critical for APHIS
to use the reports, the herd management plans, and other
information collection activities to collect appropriate
epidemiological information in response to the unanticipated
increase of outbreaks of the swine enteric coronavirus diseases
(SECDs). This will help APHIS to understand the disease spread and
provide information for controlling the outbreak and is essential
to the mission of the Agency. The Secretary of Agriculture will be
issuing a Federal Order to implement these actions.
