Homeland Security Presidential
Directive 12 (HSPD-12) established a mandatory requirement for a
Government-wide identity verification standard. In compliance with
HSPD-12, NIST Federal Information Processing Standard 201, and OMB
policy memorandum M-05-24/ Implementation of Homeland Security
Presidential Directive 12, NASA developed the Identity Management
System (IdMAX) to manage identities, credentials, and access. IdMAX
is an integrated enterprise environment that enables NASA to
collect and process information from members of the public, covered
by the Paperwork Reduction Act, who are seeking access to NASA
sites, facilities, and systems for a time period greater than 30
days in a calendar year, and for all foreign national visitors
regardless of their affiliation time. The information is used to
validate identity and issue secure, reliable credentials.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
