Part 22 contains the technical and legal requirements for radio stations operating in the Public Mobile Services. The information collected is used to determine on a case-by-case basis, whether or not to grant licenses authorizing construction and operation of wireless telecommunications facilities to common carriers. Further, this information is used to develop statistics about the demand for various wireless licenses and/or the licensing process itself, and occassionally for rule enforcement purposes.

The Commission has the following adjustments/decreases to the annual burden hours of 180 hours and adjustments/increases to the annual costs of $19,297,700. The decrease to the annual burden hours is due to the Commission thoroughly reevaluating the burden hours for this collection. The increase in the annual costs is due to the hourly rate for the contracting attorney or engineer increasing from $200/hour to $275/hour and also the Commission thoroughly reevaluating the costs for this collection.
