To assist parties charged with
implementing the education and training provisions of Section 109
of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, MARAD has
developed a voluntary program of maritime security course approval.
Course providers wishing to have their courses designated as
incorporating the standards and curriculum developed under Section
109 may submit a Request for Course Approval in accordance with the
elements described in this collection.
Since the last approval of this
collection, there has been an increase in the number of respondents
(course providers) submitting their course curricula and
descriptions of their operations for review.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).

the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
