The National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation
(USDOT) is seeking approval from the Office of Management and
Budget (OMB) to conduct a qualifying survey of prospective
volunteer participants for a study entitled Older Drivers and
Navigation Devices. This information will be used by NHTSA to
qualify volunteers as participants for inclusion in a study
exploring the extent to which GPS-based navigation systems support
or impair older adults' performance when driving to an unfamiliar
destination as compared to navigation using traditional
methods.
