Complex Families

Dear [PARTICIPANT],

Thank you for agreeing to be in this important study. The goal of this study is to learn more about questions that may be used in healthy marriage and relationship education (HMRE) programming and evaluation. We want to make sure that the questions make sense to different types of families. For example, parents who may have children from previous relationships. As part of this effort, we will be doing cognitive interviews with parents in these types of families.

Cognitive interviews are conversations in which participants are asked what they think of different questions. For example, we might ask if the wording of a question makes sense or not. The goal of cognitive interviews is to improve the quality of the questions. The goal is not to get answers to the questions.

Attached to this letter is a consent form. It describes the study, your rights as a participant, and other important information.  Please read the consent form before the interview.
