Abstract: OSM and state regulatory authorities use the information collected for 30 CFR Part 772 to keep track of coal exploration activities, evaluate the need for an exploration permit, and ensure that exploration activities comply with the environmental protection and reclamation requirements of 30 CFR Part 772 and section 512 of SMCRA (30 USC 1262).

Short Statement: OSMRE is submitting this request to OMB for approval to collect information under Part 772. This request seeks a burden reduction of 1,463 hours, primarily due to a reduction in use. We are also seeking approval for an increase in non-wage costs of $334 due to a reestimate. Both of these changes are adjustments.
