When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard? |
An owner or operator of a commercial diving operation—or a vessel or facility that supports commercial diving—must maintain records and periodically submit reports to the Coast Guard (CG) Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection (OCMI) before a commercial diving operation can take place. |

What happens when complete information is received? |
The OCMI will review the information and determine if a commercial diving operation is in compliance with the requirements. The CG will advise the commercial diving owner/operator in writing of the results of the review. |

The Coast Guard estimates that the average burden per response for this report varies per information collection—about 15 minutes to record VCS facility maintenance; 1.5 hours for a new tank vessel VCS submission; 2 hours for a certifying entity submission; and up to 34.5 hours for a new facility VCS submission.
