Open access fishery values were updated to reflect most recent participation levels. SFD staff consulted with various groundfish vessel captains participating in various groundfish pot, longline, midwater trawl, bottom trawl fisheries, and determined that gear markings have a five-year life span. Previous estimates assumed gear markings to be required annually. Therefore, burden and cost estimates for this requirement are reduced from previous estimates due to revised recent participation estimates and new understanding of the life span of gear markings.
