Respondents are sponsors of
collectively bargained retirement trusts in significant financial
distress. The MPRA allows a respondent to apply to Treasury for
approval to suspend benefit payments without jeopardizing the
trust's tax-exempt status. The MPRA imposes extensive eligibility
requirements. The information collection is necessary to determine
whether respondents are eligible for the relief.
