Hello, my name is __________________________ and we are conducting a transportation study for the U.S. Forest Service to better understand visitor’s experience at Hanging Lake. Would you like to participate in our brief survey? Participation is voluntary and all responses are anonymous.”

• If there is more than one person in the group: screener will ask:

”First, can I ask who in the group has celebrated their birthday most recently?”

ASK IDENTIFIED PERSON: “Did you hike Hanging Lake today?”

_____ YES: “Thank you, this survey should take about 10-15 minutes.”

• Screener will hand clipboard with the “HIKER” survey.

_____ NO but plan to: “Thank you! Maybe we will survey you after your hike.”

_____ NO: “Thank you, this survey should take about 5 minutes.”

• Screener will hand clipboard with the “VISITOR” survey.

_____ NO: “Thank you for your time! Could you answer just a couple of brief questions?”

_____ YES, we ask the following non-response questions:
