The Department of the Interior can
guarantee or insure up to 90% of loans that private lenders extend
to Indian tribes or individuals for economic enterprises on
reservations. The information collected allows the Department to
determine eligibility for the program, ensure reasonable prospects
for repayment, and stay abreast of developments in the enterprises
financed with guaranteed or insured loans.
The information collection for
Default Notices, 25 CFR 103.35(a), has been added to this
information collection. The information has been, and will continue
to be, collected as it is a regulatory requirement, but was not
previously included as part of previous submissions of this
information collection. As a result, the hourly burden of this
collection has been adjusted accordingly.
