Respirable Crystalline Silica
Standards for General Industry, Shipyard Employment and Marine
Terminals (29 CFR 1910.1053) and Construction (29 CFR
1926.1053)
New
collection (Request for a new OMB Control Number)
The standards will require covered
employers to monitor employee exposure to respirable crystalline
silica, to establish either regulated areas or a written access
control plan, to conduct medical surveillance, and to establish and
maintain accurate records of employee exposure to respirable
crystalline silica and employee medical records. These records will
be used by employers, workers, physicians and the Government to
ensure that workers are not being harmed by exposure to respirable
crystalline silica.

This information collection
supports a new final rule. The burden hours for the collection of
information requirements contained in the final rule result in a
total program change of 12,118,364 hours. Operating and maintenance
costs for the collection of information requirements contained in
the final rule result in a total program change of
$393,789,901.
