National Language Service Corps Pilot

Dear (NLSC Member),
Congratulations and thank you for joining the National Language Service Corps (NLSC). Our Members
enable the NLSC to offer valuable assistance in times of national need. By volunteering your time and
skills, you help bridge communities. You are part of a select group of individuals who value service,
language and culture. As a Member, you are helping to build the foundation for the NLSC.
During your membership, the Interactions and Engagements (I&E) team will be in close contact with
you. I will be your personal liaison, available to answer any questions or concerns that you may have
regarding your membership experience. In addition to interacting with NLSC staff, you will also be
engaged online through our Member site called the “24/7.” The web address of the 24/7 Center is
https://sharepoint.nlscorps.org. In this Members-only site, you will find a discussion board, training
modules, language sustainment resources, as well as updates on the NLSC program. If you applied to
the NLSC via our online application, please utilize the username and password you were issued during
the online application process. Please be aware that it may take a few days following the activation of
your membership to authorize your 24/7 account. If you are still not able to access the 24/7 after a few
days, please let me know. If you applied to the NLSC by submitting a hard-copy paper application,
please reply to this email and I will assist in having your username and password issued to you as soon
as possible.
You are invited to contribute articles and materials to our quarterly newsletter, The Language Compass,
by emailing [email protected]. The most recent edition of The Language Compass can be found
here. We also invite you to join our social networks on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. On these sites,
you will find other NLSC members who enjoy talking to each other, and would like to learn about you
too.
Again, thank you for volunteering with the NLSC! Within the next two weeks you will receive an
Orientation email that will familiarize you with the departments in the NLSC. In the meantime, if you have
any questions, comments or concerns, you are welcome to email me. Please know that not every
Member will be called to serve, but your contribution and commitment to the NLSC community is
invaluable.
