SBIRT program supports the provision of clinically appropriate services for persons at risk for or diagnosed with a substance use disorder. SBIRT addresses an important service gap for people who use substances at a level that is unhealthy but below the threshold to be classified as a disorder. It is intended to be universal, so the screen component has significant potential for improving public health.
