TITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: 2019 Women-led Biodata Science Hackathon Application


PURPOSE: The purpose of this National Library of Medicine (NLM) information collection is to collect general applicant information (e.g., name, institution, and contact information), area of expertise, and interest areas from the 2019 Women-led Biodata Science Hackathon applicants. Working groups of five to six individuals, with various backgrounds and expertise, will be formed into five to eight teams with an experienced leader. These teams will build pipelines and tools to analyze large datasets within a cloud infrastructure.


DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS: Applicants are individuals interested in participating in the 2019 Women-led Biodata Science Hackathon which will be held on the NIH campus, Bethesda, Maryland. Throughout the three days, teams will come together to discuss progress on each of the topics, bioinformatics best practices, coding styles, etc.

There is not a pre-existing customer list. An NIH campus-wide email will be sent to announce the event. Participants will be selected based on the experience and motivation they describe in their application. Extra consideration will be given to applicants with previous hackathon experience.
