Dear «SALUTATION» «LAST_NAME»,
Congratulations! You have successfully completed the selection
stage of the 2015-2016 National Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps
(NROTC) Scholarship. Your accomplishment is most commendable! Your
selection means that you have been nominated for a Navy Option
Scholarship to begin in the Fall of 2016 enrolled in a Tier
«MAJOR_TIER» major. Your scholarship has been placed at
«SCHOOL_NAME». Your NROTC host unit will be «HOST_SCHOOL». The NROTC
unit has been notified of your nomination for a NROTC scholarship.
*** All requirements in the following paragraphs must be completed
before your scholarship can be activated. ***
REQUIREMENTS:
1. You must formally accept this scholarship nomination by
completing the on-line acceptance at:
https://www.netfocus.netc.navy.mil/nrotc/candidate_app/status_scholars
hip.aspx by «RESPOND_DATE». Your nomination for the NROTC scholarship
will be withdrawn if we do not receive your acceptance by this date.
Your acceptance of this scholarship nomination does not obligate you
to attend the NROTC Program.
2. You must be found medically qualified in order to participate
in the NROTC Scholarship Program. Scholarship benefits will not begin
until all medical qualification requirements are met. You must still
report into your assigned NROTC unit in the fall even if your medical
qualification status is pending. This means: If you have not been
notified that you are medically qualified before your Fall 2016
tuition is due, then you must be prepared to pay tuition by other
means until you have been found medically qualified. If found
medically qualified before the end of your first term in the NROTC
program, all tuition and approved fees paid will be reimbursed.
3. You must be enrolled in a Tier «MAJOR_TIER» major. You are
required to complete one year of calculus by the end of your sophomore
year and one year of calculus-based physics by the end of your junior
year.

4. You must gain admission to and enroll into your assigned
school where your scholarship has been placed for the Fall 2016 term.
You may request to transfer your scholarship to another NROTC school;
however, approval is not guaranteed. Information on requesting a
school placement change can be found in the information booklet you
can download from the website or by emailing
[email protected].
5. You must maintain your present level of academic performance
and personal conduct.
6. You must not have any body piercing or tattoos that violate
Navy policy. Contact your Host NROTC Unit for details on the current
policy.
7. You must report to your assigned NROTC unit physically fit,
within Navy height/weight standards and able to pass the Navy Physical
Fitness Test with a satisfactory performance level in order for your
scholarship to be activated. A cornerstone of military service is
physical fitness. To help prepare for physical training at the unit,
visit https://www.nrotc.navy.mil. Look under Program Information,
click on Requirements and then click on Physical. You will find a
Physical Training Plan for a guide to physical fitness preparation as
well as the Navy height/weight and Physical Readiness Test standards.
8. You will receive scholarship benefits only for the time
required to receive your Baccalaureate Degree or 4-years, whichever
comes first. If additional benefits are necessary, students may
request and, in some cases, be granted extended benefits.
If you enroll in any other U.S. military officer accession program
prior to reporting to the NROTC unit, you automatically forfeit your
NROTC scholarship. (Example: If you receive an appointment to,
enroll in, and then drop from the U.S. Naval Academy or other service
academy, you cannot reclaim your NROTC scholarship, even if you were
enrolled for only one day.) After dropping from another officer
accession program, you may be able to join the non-subsidized NROTC
College Program; however, you must submit a request in writing to the
Director of Officer Development, Naval Service Training Command (NSTC)
via the Professor of Naval Science at the NROTC University of your
choice. You must explain, in detail, the reasons for your
disenrollment and attach a copy of your Record of Disenrollment from
Officer Candidate-Type Training (DD 785).
It is recommended you download and print the NROTC Scholarship
Information Booklet from the website:
https://www.netfocus.netc.navy.mil/nrotc/candidate_app/status_scholarship
.aspx. Click on the link for the booklet. Please read the information
carefully about your NROTC Scholarship offer. For questions regarding
your nomination, please email the NROTC Selection and Placement Office at
