Apple and grape exporters must obtain inspection and certification of apple and grape shipments to foreign buyers. Information regarding each shipment is placed on shipping containers. Carriers (shippers) retain copies of the certificates.

Implementation of ITDS is causing the USDA to modify requirements for documentation pertaining to exported apples and grapes. Shippers of exported apples and grapes would be required to electronically enter an Export Form Certificate number or a USDA-defined exemption code into the Automated Export System.
