The purpose of this collection is for
APHIS to conduct disease surveillance at livestock marketing,
slaughtering, and rendering facilities and establishments through
the use of agreements allowing blood and tissue testing, and review
of livestock and poultry movement records. These actions help
identify, trace, and prevent the spread of animal diseases within
the United States and have an important role in protecting the
health of the U.S. livestock and poultry populations.
US Code:
7 USC
8301 Name of Law: Animal Health Protection Act of 2002
Increases in responses and
hours are attributed to the addition of 5 burdens not previously
reported (schedule of sales days, diseased animal notification,
quarantine signs, and requests for appeal of denial of agreements
and of withdrawal of agreements), and merging 0579-0258 into the
information collection request adding four new burdens (approval of
livestock facilities agreements and 3 recordkeeping requirements)
as well as adding to an existing burden (Listing Agreements). The
unreported burdens contribute only 13 responses and 6 hours of
burden to the information collection request.
