Dear Education Leader:
At the Institute of Education Sciences, the applied research, statistics, and evaluation arm of the
U.S. Department of Education, we want to learn how you use research evidence when making
education decisions. We also want to learn whether and how you use the What Works
Clearinghouse (WWC), whatworks.ed.gov, when looking for education research and evidence.
We are seeking this information so we can make the WWC more useful to educators.
The American Institutes for Research (AIR) is collecting information on our behalf about
education leaders’ use of research evidence and comments on the WWC’s online resources. We
hope that you will participate in a videoconference interview that will take no longer than one
hour. The information you share in this interview will remain anonymous. We will combine your
responses with the information contributed by other educators to inform improvements to the
What Works Clearinghouse website.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected].
I appreciate your consideration and participation.
Sincerely,

Matthew Soldner
Commissioner
National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance
Institute of Education Science | U.S. Department of Education
