The HUD Environmental Review Online System (HEROS) is designed to help users document compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the related environmental statues, executive orders, and authorities in accordance with the procedures identified in 24 CFR Part 50 and 24 CFR Part 58. HUD Staff and Recipients will use the system to complete their environmental review records and certify compliance with applicable environmental requirements
HEROS has been put into production since this collection was last submitted in 2014. As a result, HUD is now able to collect data on how much the system has actually been used, as opposed to attempting to guess at how much it would be used. The number of responses indicated in Item 13 reflects the actual number of responses collected in a 365-day period. The estimated cost and hourly burden is reduced, because the previous estimates were significantly higher than the actual numbers reflected in HEROS.
