Form N-17f-2 is the cover sheet for
accountant examination certificates filed pursuant to rule 17f-2
under the Investment Company Act of 1940 by management investment
companies maintaining custody of securities or other
investments.
US Code:

USC 80a Name of Law: Investment Company Act of 1940
The estimated total annual
burden for Form N-17f-2 has decreased from the previous submission
under the Paperwork Reduction Act by 340 burden hours per year
(from 1,504 hours to 1,164 hours). Previously, the Commission had
estimated an annual total hour burden of approximately 1,504 hours
with this number based on a yearly estimate of approximately 188
funds with each fund filing approximately four times a year with an
estimated burden of 8 hours per fund. The change in the estimated
hour burden is due to the decrease in the number of filings per
fund from approximately four times a year to three times a year,
but this decrease is partially offset by an increase in the number
of funds from 188 to 194. Based on a review of filings, the time to
prepare the form has not changed.
