Dear Public Official:

As part of the State Certification Program, the U.S. Census Bureau submits the boundary change information you provided in response to the annual Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) to the governor-appointed State Certifying Official for verification. This program ensures the quality of the boundary information the Census Bureau uses for reporting census and survey data.

During the most recent State Certification cycle, the State Certifying Official notified the Census Bureau that one or more boundary changes for your community were not implemented in accordance with state law. Therefore, these boundary changes may be removed from the Census Bureau’s database. The affected boundary updates are listed in the attached document for your review.

If you believe any of these boundary changes are legally in effect and should be recognized, please provide the necessary documentation to the appropriate state or county level agency, as stipulated by your state law. You may resubmit the affected boundary changes to the next BAS program, once you have resolved these boundary changes with your state government.
