Who must comply?

Owners and operators of towing vessels.

What is this collection about?

This information collection requires that credentialed officers of towing vessels document certain items, including participation in training and drills.

When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard?

Information must be submitted to the Coast Guard (CG) Regional Examination Center (REC), as part of an application package, prior to issuance of a credential/endorsement to operate a towing vessel.

How is the information submitted?

The information may be provided in writing or electronically to an REC.

What happens when complete information is received?

Once all required information has been provided and the CG approves it, you will be notified in writing.

An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a valid OMB control number.

The Coast Guard estimates that the average burden per response for this report varies per information collection—about .5 hours per check-ride record, 1 hour for mariner training/drills recordkeeping, and up to 2 hours for company recordkeeping.
