This collection of information covers
regulatory requirements for fishing vessel and gear identification
authorized under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and
Management Act and other applicable law. All vessels fishing under
Federal permits issued by the Pacific Islands Region must display
identification markings on vessels as specified in 50 CFR Part 665.
Vessels fishing in the Western and Central Pacific Convention
(WCPFC) Area with a WCPFC Area Endorsement and tuna purse seine
vessels in the South Pacific are required to display their
international radio call sign in three locations and on any
helicopter or skiff as specified in 50 CFR Part 300. Fishing gear
in the western Pacific pelagic longline fisheries and western
Pacific coral reef ecosystem fisheries are required to be marked
with the vessel's official number in a specific manner and location
as specified in 50 CFR Part 665.
