If the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement at Department of the Interior does receive funding for the Small Operators Assistance Program and the burden hours are expected to increase, the agency is requested to submit a change request.

This information collection requirement is needed to provide assistance to qualified small mine operators under section 507(c) of 30 USC 1201 et seq.. The information requested will provide the regulatory authority with data to determine the eligibility of the applicant and the capability and expertise of laboratories to perform required tasks.
