Explanation of Non-Substantive Changes to OMB Control Number: 3060-0411:

Purpose of this Submission: The Commission is submitting this non-substantive change request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to amend the checklist for filing formal complaints for this information collection. This modification will make filing formal complaints more efficient and increase the effectiveness of Commission complaint processes. This submission seeks to update FCC Form 485 and the accompanying Instructions. Please see the attached updated form and instructions.


Summary of Proposed Changes (Updates):


  • Consistency of Formal Complaint Filings: Filers currently submit a checklist for all formal complaints under 47 U.S.C. Section 208. This submission requests that the filers provide a checklist for formal complaints under 47 U.S.C. Sections 208, 224, 255, 716, and 718. This change will assist filers in filing formal complaints and allow for more efficient and accurate information gathering.

  • Formatting Changes: The attached revised form and instructions reflect procedural rule numbering changes in Part 47 of the C.F.R.
