Survey on Activities Supported Under Title IV, Part A — Student Support and Academic Enrichment Grants: FY 2018

This survey of state educational agency (SEA) officials examines the early implementation of Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) grants, authorized by Title IV, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). It intends to provide an initial overview of how states and local educational agencies (LEAs) are prioritizing the use of fiscal year (FY) 2018 Title IV, Part A funds during the 2018–19 school year, to support activities to

  1. provide all students with access to a well-rounded education (Section 4107),

  2. improve school conditions for student learning (Section 4108), and

  3. improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students (Section 4109).

The following questions ask about activities at both the SEA and LEA levels. Please base your responses to the LEA-level questions on your SEA’s review of LEA grant applications submitted under Section 4106(e)(1) that address, among other requirements, how LEAs plan[ned] to use FY 2018 Title IV, Part A funds for activities authorized under Sections 4107, 4108, and 4109.

Responses to this survey will be used to prepare a report that summarizes findings in an aggregate manner across states. In addition, some factual information from the survey may be reported on a state-by-state basis. We will not provide information that identifies you to anyone outside the study team, except as required by law.

Thank you for your time and effort to complete this survey.
