Definitions To complete the screening for this survey, you will be asked about your familiarity with some of the security measures in place at <X Venue>. Each of these security measures is briefly defined as follows:
 
Video cameras: Refers to the use of cameras to record events that happen at <X Venue> for security & surveillance purposes. Commonly referred to as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV).
 
Security guards: Refers to the use of uniformed guards (not police officers) employed to patrol <X Venue> and monitor events that happen.
 
Metal detectors: Refers to the use of metal detectors at the entrances to <X Venue>, to screen guests as they arrive at the venue.
 
Bag checks: Refers to the routine inspection of guests' bags (such as handbags or backpacks) at the entrances to <X Venue>. These inspections can be manually performed by security personnel, or with X-ray screening.
 
Parking/Drop-off perimeter restrictions: Refers to the use of barriers and other restrictions that limit traffic near <X Venue>, limiting curbside pick-up /drop-off and forcing guests to park around the venue's perimeter.
 
Bomb detection K9 teams: Refers to the use of a highly trained detection dog and a handler to search for a variety of explosive materials at <X Venue>.

INFORMATION/FACTS SHEET FOR EXEMPT NON-MEDICAL RESEARCH
 
Perceptions of Security Measures at <X Venue>     You are invited to participate in a research study about security measures at <X Venue> in the United States. This document provides information about this study. You must be 18 or older to participate, and your participation is voluntary. Please take as much time as you need to read this information sheet, and feel free to print it  for your records.
 
     You will be asked to provide information about your experiences and views of security measures, and how they impact your decision to visit and spend time at concert halls. You will also be asked to indicate your gender, age, ethnicity, and income as background factors. This survey is anticipated to take no more than 30 minutes to complete. However, we expect that most people will finish it more quickly. You will be compensated $1 for your time. The payment will be deposited into your Mechanical Turk account.
 
     There are no anticipated risks to your participation in this study. You can take as many breaks as needed, as well as discontinue your participation at any time for any reason.
 
     There will be no information obtained in connection with this survey that can identify you. Your name, address or other information that may identify you will not be linked to your responses. Only the members of the research team, the funding agency (the U.S. Department of Homeland Security) and the University of Southern California’s Human Subjects Protection Program (HSPP) may access the data. The HSPP reviews and monitors research studies to protect the rights and welfare of research subjects. The data will be stored indefinitely on password protected researcher computers in a locked room. In addition, the data files themselves also will be password protected. The anonymous data may be used for future research. If you do not want your data used in future studies, you should not participate.
