The data collected on this form is
used by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to
determine eligibility for the requested immigration benefit of
citizenship. The form serves the purpose of standardizing requests
for the benefit, and will ensure that the basic information
required to assess eligibility is provided by the applicants. USCIS
removing from the "Note" section a requirement indicating that a
passport must be issued per the current instruction; there is no
requirement for this and eliminating this will eliminate any
confusion on the part of the respondent.
There is a decrease in the
estimated annual hour burden for this collection of information as
a result of the decrease in the estimated number of respondents
from 4,272 to 3,000. The hour burden per response did not change.
USCIS made minor edits to the form and instructions, but they did
not impact the time burden. The estimated annual cost burden to
respondents for this collection of information decreased as a
result of the decrease in the estimated number of respondents.
